A Certain Sense of Style...

I can always appreciate style – no matter where it comes from or who wears it…as long as they wear it well. It’s all in how you wear your hat.
It’s no secret that I am a life-long Republican.
That being said – again and again – I have to say that I was impressed by John Fetterman back he first came on the scene, through all of the reported ‘medical’ concerns and right up to now.
I have the utmost respect for him – yes, even though he’s a Democrat – but it’s got absolutely nothing to do with party affiliation.
It has everything to do with the character and style of the man himself.
And now, because of those very same factors, he’s forced to face down the wrath of his OWN angry party.
The same party that knowingly, happily and relentlessly eats its own for any perceived act of disobedience.
He essentially said, “No. This direction is wrong”, and he stood by that position.
I’m sure he knew what would most likely happen – and it did – but he doesn’t seem to care.
Speaking his own thoughts and ideas – regardless of party lines and stances – and promoting the very real need for level-headedness, two-way discussion and tolerance in this world.
And now, I respect him even more.
His actions are the embodiment of every word of every piece I’ve put down on the subject of ‘thinking for yourself’.
Sadly, the party that needs him the most is doing everything it can to alienate him for the sole, simple fact that he will not blindly sing and chant and absurdly defy The President of the United States.
“GASP!!! He MUST be a traitor to the Democrat party!!!”
It’s so funny – and so mundanely predictable – that the first reaction to ANY thought or word that even hints at FREE THINKING and a contradiction to the party’s iron-clad marching orders is to immediately and horribly vilify the offender.
And it makes no difference WHO they are or WHAT they may have done – they must be ‘punished’!
Case-in-point…he was just recently, mercilessly booed for NOT supporting the ‘no kings’ protests and it was even said that “he lied to the people because he’s really MAGA, so he should resign so they can nominate a ‘real’ democrat in his place”
Absurdity. But why such a sharp-pointed attack?
Simple…he refused to step in line and wave someone else’s banner, scream and yell and talk unfounded nonsense just because the ‘party’ demanded that he should do so.
I commend him for taking a stand against such ‘idiocracy’ – no matter WHAT the details may be and no matter WHAT reasons he may have actually had.
I can only speak to what I see and hear.
And I commend him for standing his ground.
Imagine if just a few more people took that same hard line against blind allegiance to an agenda?
As far as I know, he’s STILL a Democrat. Most likely always will be, but who knows?
More so…who cares? Democrat or Republican is NOT the acid test for right and wrong, contrary to the way it has been promoted for so many years.
John Fetterman’s got that certain sense of style in his words and actions, and he speaks what he believes to be the right word – not just for Democrats but for all of The People.
This is how this ‘whole country of ours’ was intended to operate from the start!
I thought it was great when he insisted on wearing his hoodies wherever he went.
I thought, “Good deal. This guy is more concerned with making a change than he is with the stuffiest of decorum.” He still respected specific audiences and requirements, but he didn’t allow them to overtake WHO he was and is. Just that approach told me pretty much all I needed to know about the man.
I was knocked back when he publicly spoke out against the actions and gyrations of a great many members of his own party, not to mention the ones in Congress and the Senate who should know better without being told.
And I thought, “Outstanding! This guy lives what he believes!”
He’s not looking for TikTok video opportunities to bolster his own support.
He’s not looking to stand on a street corner and chant and sing insanely juvenile songs in the hopes that those efforts will unseat The President of the United States.
He’s not forcing himself into the limelight with ludicrous – and COMPLETELY FRUITLESS – publicity stunts claiming to ‘fight the good fight’ against The President of the United States in hopes that those stunts will unseat The President of the United States.
He’s not looking for ‘photo-ops’ and saturated media attention by trying to force his way into facilities that, quite frankly, no one has ever had any interest in before, all in the hopes that doing so will somehow change the minds of over seventy million Voters and turn them against The President of the United States.
John Fetterman is pretty much far removed from the ‘Idiocracy’ that he’s forced to swim in.
But he’s got a certain sense of style.
Like the old saying goes… “he knows how to wear his hat”
A little odd? Sure. No doubt and absolutely. But SO WHAT?
Odd but still tolerant and open WILL ALWAYS ‘trump’ blindered, narrow, hate-filled diatribes and agendas EVERY time!
He’s the kind of guy that I could sit down and talk with about each and every issue – both of us knowing full well that we will not agree on everything – maybe not agree on very much at all.
But we could still talk and learn from each other and maybe move the pegs a little bit closer to the end goal…a real and lasting change for ALL of us.
THAT is a conversation worth having…as a matter of fact, THAT is the ONLY conversation worth having at this point!
