Years ago, I knew a guy who walked around with a cup of coffee and the Wall Street Journal and sang the praises of the Republican Party. Almost a yuppie.
Then one day, he started a new government job and he was instantly transformed into a liberal democrat, now – and ever since – singing only the praises of the Democrat Party.
One afternoon after work, we were sitting under the sun drinking a few beers when all of a sudden, he proclaimed, “Bill Clinton is the BEST president this country has EVER seen!”
I looked at him for a minute just wondering what was going on.
Then I asked him, “Could be…what exactly did Clinton do to make you say that?”
And then he began to rattle off talking points (they were still talking points back – Democrats hadn’t yet started to scream about everything).
“He turned this country around!”
“Ok…exactly how did he turn this country around?”
Crickets.
“He does more for the working man than the Republicans ever did!”
“Ok…exactly what did he do for the working man?
What exactly did he do for YOU?”
Crickets.
“C’mon! you have to be able to give me at least ONE specific reason for what you said.”
He never could or did.
He only knew and repeated what he heard from Democrat politicians at the time.
He didn’t know anything to support such an assertion.
And he never brought it up again when I was in the room.
I just didn’t fit the script.

So…what exactly DID YOUR PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP DO?
What exactly DID YOUR PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP DO TO YOU?
What exactly DID YOUR PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP DO that damaged your life in such an egregious way?
What was it?
Exactly what was it?
Don’t rattle off generic barking points or read off old white-people protestors’ PAID marching signs.
Don’t hold a sing-a-long in front of the cameras just to sing your barking points.
Tell me – honestly – what did this man EVER DO TO YOU?
It had to be SOMETHING particularly heinous to loose so much venom on the folks around you.
It had to be SOMETHING particularly horrifying to justify the alienation of your once-friends – and even worse – your family.
So…what exactly did he do?
You can’t answer that simple question, can you?
That question has just as simple of an answer…
You can’t give a specific, factual reason because you DO NOT HAVE ONE.
My point is this.
If you are going to destroy your life with deep-in-your-heart anger for a man, you should at least have a reason. NO ONE should ever hate because they were told to – and conditioned to – hate by someone else’s doctrine.
A good, specific and factual reason might be something like, “His ABC Policy took an actual $50 out of my paycheck every month”.
Of course, I MUST emphasize that this is NOT an actual statement – it is written for demonstration purposes only. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE. It’s a SAD testament to current affairs that I have to even make that distinction, isn’t it?
Anyway…
There is no sane, valid reason that a political party’s generalities should EVER incite HATRED in its membership. Not a one. Not ever.
Excitement, loyalty and enthusiasm – ABSOLUTELY!
BUT NEVER BLIND, IGNORANT, UNWARRANTED HATRED!
Yet that very hatred exists, and not only exists, but it is also actively encouraged by that same political party.
A roundtable question such as, “What do you propose as a solution to ‘this problem’?” should NEVER be answered with, “Trump NO good!”
When that is the only answer, it’s pretty clear to see that no plan or want to find a solution even exists.
The most important point of that answer is that “Trump NO good, so there’s no reason for us to have a plan! Just get rid of HIM!”
And when any of the sane folks ask for more than “Trump NO good!”, they are instantly vilified and alienated and attacked and labeled as any number of despicable monikers.
Fortunately, more and more of The People ARE asking for more than that these days.
I miss the days of real discussion.
No, not shouting barking points across the table.
Real discussion. Talking together. Thinking together.
There really are quite a few of us that would welcome the chance to even just ‘talk’ about these things, but that is still NOT allowed.
From the get-go, I always thought it was amusing to hear, “If you don’t agree with me that Trump is no good, you must be a fascist, racist, misogynistic homophobe just like he is!”
Not so amusing was the visceral reaction that someone deemed as despicable as me should not even be given a chance to speak. That reaction means an immediate loss of respect for anything I might have to say…and ultimately for me as a person. All because I had the audacity to have my own opinion – and back it up with factual reasons.
I refused to acquiesce to their diatribe.
And so began my unwarranted and unjustified segregation and estrangement – even my attempted cancellation.
I can – and do – cite several specific reasons for saying this, yet, I have NEVER heard one shred of factual evidence – or even reasoning – to explain ‘why’ I deserve to be cast out like this.
Cast out by people I believed were friends, and sadly even by people that should never do such a thing – people in my own family.
The saddest part is that THEY will never know what they’ve done, because not only do they REFUSE to discuss ANYTHING short of pure hatred for their PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, for the past year-and-a-half, they REFUSED to read ANYTHING that I’ve written – or anything I continue to write.
They still refuse to ‘talk’ about anything unless it is the outright condemnation of their own PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, all the while hiding behind the ridiculous notion that they ‘don’t’ want to talk politics’ whenever I try.
So sad, indeed.
So, I ask you…what exactly did YOUR PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP do to create such a blind, thoughtless and profound hatred toward him?
I submit that not only will you NOT answer that question, but that you CANNOT answer that question.
Why?
Because there is NO answer to that question when you parrot someone else’s diatribe, agenda and manifesto.
Try ignoring the TV’s so-called “news” and the politicians scraping for the spotlight, and look and listen around you for a sense of what’s really going on.
Try ignoring all those ridiculous on-line “news stories” and actually find things out for yourself.
Try thinking for yourself for a change!
