It’s getting pretty embarrassing out there anymore.
It’s second-hand embarrassment.
I feel really bad for these people, I sincerely do.
Have you noticed how the VAST majority of protestors out there are elderly, white folks?
People that have ZERO connection to the topics and government officials they are protesting?
Of course, I’m referring to the innocuous protestors that just make noise for the ducats they collect from whatever activist group is paying them THIS WEEK.
I’m not talking about the very-obviously radicalized, hired and trained thugs that have been physically assaulting Federal Officers – as well as civilians that do not agree with their tantrums and marching orders.
These elderly folks don’t give a good-goddamn how much they embarrass themselves and their families. I don’t think they believe it’s embarrassing at all.
But I get it…I’m getting older and I’m pretty cantankerous myself anymore. Still, I see no reason to let anyone else do my thinking for me.
And neither should they.
No, they’re out there to scream and yell and carry misspelled signs for whatever cause they’ve been told is important…THIS WEEK…all the while having NO CLUE what their signs even say, let alone what they mean.
All they have to hear is “Trump bad!” and they’re on their way.
That IS embarrassing.
They ARE embarrassing themselves….and all of us right along with them.
Remember me telling you several months ago about the old woman that saw President Donald Trump on TV shaking hands with the Italian PM (GASP! a woman) and proclaimed that, “He must HATE having to shake hands with a woman! HE hates women!”???
No support or justification for such an accusation…other than the programming she so eagerly digested.
Not much has changed.
The program remains the same.
This whole environment reminds me SO MUCH of an old SNL skit!
NOTE: I’m trying to find any humor I can these days in such a horrific landscape.
It was a (satirical) commercial for “Old Glory Insurance”, with Sam Waterston as the spokesman, that offered to cover ‘old people’ against robots because robots eat old people’s medicine for fuel! It was made to sound perfectly legitimate. A classic SNL fake commercial!
It’s still a hilarious skit (GOOGLE it) even after all these years, but when I first saw it – and laughed my ass off – I never thought for a second that one day it would actually turn out to be true!
Well, not the robot part, but the premise certainly came true, and in just the past few months it has become a glaring reality.
These elderly white people are so deeply programmed that they will pick up and head out to the protestor lines without a moment’s hesitation or concern for any kernel of truth behind their marching orders.
It’s so amusing because you only have to change a couple words of the commercial skit to fit EACH AND EVERY ONE of the modern protesting narratives…and it makes these ‘protests’ all the more ridiculous.
Let’s take a look…shall we?
“As a senior citizen, you’re probably aware of the threat that ROBOTS pose.”
This morphs so easily into…
“As a senior citizen, you’re probably aware of the threat that TRUMP poses.”
Here’s another one.
“You need to feel safe nowadays because ROBOTS can strike at any time.”
This morphs into…
“You need to feel safe nowadays because TRUMP can strike at any time.”
And of course, the final ‘sales’ pitch…
“OLD GLORY INSURANCE…for when the METAL ONES decide to come for you…and THEY WILL.”
This becomes…
“PROTEST WITH US NOW…for when TRUMP decides to come for you…and HE WILL.”
This whole thing would still be uproariously funny…if wasn’t actually happening.
Yeah…I feel really bad for these people, I sincerely do.
Maybe they’re trying to relive the protests of the ‘60’s? I don’t know.
Then again, if that’s the case, they should know the difference between actual civil rights and actual war – as they lived through them back then – and the current state of hypothetical, inflammatory, groundless and fabricated outrage they now blindly and willingly support.
No matter what is said – no matter by whom, no matter what is done – no matter by whom, no matter what is seen and no matter what is ever proven, the song remains the same…
“Trump bad! RRRRRRR! Trump no good!”
Now imagine Phil Hartman as Frankenstein (also from SNL) saying that and you’ll have the full effect. But it will still be just as ridiculous.
What a great and wonderful legacy they will leave behind them!
Sadly, there is one universal truth that CANNOT be denied…
You will never change an ‘old person’s’ mind once it’s been made up. Never.
No, I’m not trying to do that at all. That would be a monumental waste of time.
And it wouldn’t matter even if I was. I know this.
I have no doubt that one day I’ll be the same way when it’s my turn to float on down the river.
I just hope that when my time comes, I can find something to cling to that can actually float!
