They've All Forgotten to Give a Damn

I remember there was a time

back when they were younger

back they were still hungry

and so much more humble

way back when they gave a damn

just because it was the right thing to do

but time has passed and

so much time has elapsed that

they’ve all forgotten to give a damn

and now the right thing to do

is to be praised by the same ones

that came only to collect the art

they create but it’s become so sad

they no longer feel any use for humility

now they’re so much older

now they’re so much less humble

now they just don’t give a damn

and they’ve forgotten the right thing to do

and they’ve forgotten those that held out their hand when they needed a hand to hold on to

forgotten that without the ones that come to collect the art

that same art will fade to dust

and sooner or later

will finally cease to exist.
